Who We Are

Active AgriScience Inc was founded in 2013 and is a leading provider of technologically advanced seed treatments, foliar plant nutrition and nitrogen management products that help improve yield potential and decrease environmental impact. Our products and intellectual property benefit farmers throughout Australia, Europe and North America.

Active AgriScience works with US and Canadian universities including the University of Manitoba, the University of Winnipeg, and the University of British Columbia to develop and test our products.

Active AgriScience head office and manufacturing facilities are located in Saskatoon, SK with its research laboratories and greenhouse space on the University of British Columbia campus.

Guarantee of Quality

While no fertilizer can fully guarantee a yield advantage, Active AgriScience does stand behind our products with a Guarantee of Quality. We use third parties to conduct product analyses and research trials. Our Guarantee of Quality is backed by an 15-month free replacement warranty*, subject to proper storage, mixing, and application procedures are being followed.

*Improper use and/or storage, as per label instructions, voids the warranty. Product must be stored out of direct sun light within a temperature range of 5 – 35°C. Warranty is limited to the cost of the product and may be satisfied by free replacement of defective product, a credit note or refund (at the discretion of Active AgriScience Inc).

Active AgriScience product research is conducted by selected Canadian and American Universities combined with independent third-party research groups.

This process verifies the efficacy of our fertilizers resulting in innovative products that allows growers to improve production, quality and profits while reducing the impact on the environment.

Ranil Waliwitiya, PhD

President, Director of Research and Development

As President and Director of Research and Development, Ranil develops new and innovative fertilizer and plant growth enhancing technologies for Canadian and international markets.

Ranil has over 20 years of experience in cutting-edge crop nutrition. He previously held the position of Director of Research and Development for three leading fertilizer manufacturers in Canada. His current activities focus on formulation chemistry designed to maximize plant vigor and yield.

Ranil holds a PhD in Toxicology from Simon Fraser University (SFU), a MSc. in Plant Sciences from the University of British Columbia (UBC), and a BSc in Agriculture from the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka.

Nikisha Muhandiram, M.Sc

Formulation Chemist

Nikisha is the Formulation Chemist at Active AgriScience Inc. She holds a MSc. in Soil Science from the University of Manitoba, Canada, and a BSc. in Agricultural Technology and Management from the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka.

As the Formulation Chemist, Nikisha is responsible for various tasks related to developing, performing, and improving formulation requirements, conducting laboratory tests for research and quality control purposes, and performing efficacy testing. Furthermore, Nikisha plays a role in improving the company’s health and safety standards, contributing to maintaining a safe working environment.

Her academic background, in the fields of soil science, soil chemistry, and plant science combined with her practical experience, equips her with the necessary skills to contribute effectively to the company’s research and development efforts.

Christina Liu

Christina Liu

 Office and Accounting Manager

Christina is the accounting coordinator and office manager at Active AgriScience in Saskatoon. Her responsibilities include, inventory management, tax preparation and filling, financial reconciliation and variance analysis, AP & AR accounting, and payroll.

Christina holds a Bachelor of Economics degree in International Business and a Diploma in Business Accounting. Christina brings over seven years of experience in accounting to Active AgriScience, having functioned in similar roles for various Canadian companies.

 Logistics Manager

Savannah is a skilled Logistics Manager with a Bachelor of Agriculture Business from the University of Saskatchewan. With three years of experience in logistics-related roles, they excel in optimizing supply chain processes and implementing cost-effective procurement strategies.

Savannah ensures efficient operations and real-time visibility throughout the logistics process. Their strong analytical mindset allows them to identify opportunities for improvement and enhance overall efficiency.

Savannah effectively manages cross-functional teams and fosters collaborative relationships with suppliers and vendors. Their exceptional communication and negotiation skills contribute to successful partnerships and advantageous agreements.

With a customer-centric approach, Savannah prioritizes timely and accurate order fulfillment, maintaining high standards of quality control. They are dedicated to driving operational excellence and making valuable contributions to the company’s growth and success as the Logistics Manager.

Nathanael is the digital brand marketing manager for Active AgriScience. His work involves website and app development, print and digital design, and social media marketing.

In 2019, Nathanael graduated from the New Media Design and Web Development program at BCIT where he studied web development, information architecture, user interface design, graphic design, video production, web marketing and social media integration.
